研究室キャンプ【Summer activity for the team】

お久しぶりです。研究室は、夏休みですが、ここぞとばかりに色々とがんばって仕事をしています。日本人は仕事をしすぎ、と言いますが、確かにその通りだと思います。もう少しのんびりした方がいいですね。夏くらい。というわけで、あるキャンプ場に学生を連れてきています。バーベキューをしたり、花火をしたりして少しリラックスです。星も見ました。田舎に来ると星がきれい。流れ星も見えます。 研究室の最近ですが、新しい学生が増えました。そのうちウェブサイトでも紹介しようと思います。それから、アルバイトの子も何人か居ます。そんなわけでワイワイ実験室はいつも騒がしい。いいことです。私は大学生時代は、夏休みはほとんどありませんでした。なぜかというと、私の大学は「実習」という科目が40週間分あって（40週！）、授業の無い間にやらなければいけなかったからです。

しかも実習先は自分で探せ、というものだったので、外国人の私にとっては大変でした。今となって考えると、私を雇ってくれた方は非常に心が広い方だったんだな、と思います。感謝感謝です。

It has been a while since the last update but we are on summer holiday. However, summer holiday means simply that I do not have to lecture so I have a lot other things to do. Many say Japanese people work too hard but yes we do indeed. We should relax a bit, at least for summer. So, I took my students to a camping site, doing a bbq, some fireworks and so on. We looked at the sky and there were beautiful stars, including some shooting stars.

As a news for the team, we have one new student now so I will be introducing her soon. Also there are a few part-time students helping us. The lab is always busy these days, which is pretty exciting. I never had a proper summer vacation while I was at University because I had to do 40 weeks of practical work during summer vacation for my course.

I had to find the place to work by myself and I remember it was very hard for an inexperienced Asian boy. I sincerely thank for farmers who had guts to employ me during my life in New Zealand...
